Live Printing for Brand Activations & Pop-Ups in New York

A live printing booth guests film and keep.

A New York pop-up usually gets one night, sometimes one afternoon, and it's up against everything else on the calendar. A press running in the middle of the room gives people a reason to walk in and a reason to stay. The gear ships freight from La Habra, the crew lands a day early, and date changes are easiest with two weeks' notice.

Live t-shirt printing activations we run in New York

  • Styled stations built to your brand and fitted to the room, from a SoHo storefront to a Midtown Manhattan event space.
  • A menu guests choose from: two or three designs, a colorway for the list, names on demand.
  • Content on purpose: the station goes where the cameras can see it.

Common for fashion-week activations and sponsor lounges across the metro.

What a live printing booth needs at a New York pop-up

Plan on a 10×10 ft footprint and two 120V/20A circuits that nothing else is plugged into. In New York the floor plan is rarely the hard part. The building is. Most landlords want a certificate of insurance naming them before the freight elevator gets booked, and some only allow load-in before the doors open or after the store closes, so we ask for the building's rules on the first call. Street-level rooms in Williamsburg or a pier like Pier 36 are the easy ones: we roll in and set up. Figure about 2 minutes a guest and 100+ pieces an hour, which means a 2-hour launch night hands out around 200 shirts or totes. Leave room inside for the line. From December through March nobody waits on a SoHo sidewalk for long, and a line out the door also brings the building manager down. If you want something slower and more premium, live embroidery stitches names on caps and jackets, or keep it quick with the live hat bar in NYC.

Activations across Manhattan and Brooklyn

SoHo is where fashion and direct-to-consumer brands pop up: cast-iron lofts and storefronts where guests expect something worth filming. During fashion week, showrooms and studio suites from SoHo down into Tribeca suit a hat bar, so guests can style a cap to the collection. For a bigger build, Midtown event spaces like The Glasshouse on Twelfth Avenue or Center415 on Fifth, and the Hudson Yards & Chelsea galleries farther south, can take a multi-station setup.

Across the river, music, gaming and streetwear brands take over warehouse and waterfront spaces in Williamsburg & DUMBO, where ground-floor load-in makes a full station easy and the skyline is the backdrop. The Brooklyn Expo Center handles larger launches, and Pier 36 on the Lower East Side is the big open room with space for a truck out front. For names or full-color art, live DTF handles personalization on demand. At a live jersey name bar in New York City, two of us built each guest's surname from single DTF letters and pressed it on the spot. Picking a room? Our guide to where to host an NYC activation goes neighborhood by neighborhood.
